HAVE YOU FALLEN INTO A SINKHOLE?

Mere existence is like a house built upon a sinkhole. The house sinks slowly enough where people are aware that something is wrong, but don’t fully grasp what is happening.

There is a continual awareness that something is wrong, something is missing and   attempting to fix the problem will be a lifelong struggle. People merely exist. When an unexpected event hits you, suddenly you are in a mud slide. Questions is – What kind of foundation is the house built on?

Storms in your life cause sinkholes and mud slides strip away your confidence and joy.  Some people weather the storm others just accept that their life is meant to be teetering on the edge of a sinkhole.  Others get into self-pity because they think that they are always the one who experiences the worst of everything.  No, the storms hit all people, but only certain people have equipped themselves for success by choosing the foundation that their life is anchored on.

How frightening to be in the home when this happened.
Like the fear associated with Panic Attacks!

Bringing this back around there are 2 basic mindsets. People who live in negatively (their house built on the sand) and people who live positively, (their house built on a solid foundation). The mindset that you spend most of your time in, will determine much of what you experience.

Storms hit both houses. One will stand firm and one will encounter the sink hole.   The house represents your life. Are you prepared for victory or prepared for defeat? Have you laid a proper foundation? Are you irresponsible and then claim to be a victim to hide the truth that you have problems in your life because of the irresponsibility?

Problems, situations, circumstances are not your problem, it’s your response to the things you face that determine your success or failure. And that is why a positive mindset will help prevent you from getting too close to the edge of the sinkhole. In changing the way, you think you are firming up your foundation.

If the house starts to slip away, much work and energy is work is continually needed to just hold your own.  It is exhausting!  Without a change in your mindset, without taking runaway thoughts captive there is seldom a permanent solution. People are just spending their time holding on and attempting to maintain that which is constantly and repeatedly on the verge of slipping away.

The house refers to your life, the sinkhole refers to the world of those living with mental torment.  This could be a good analogy to explain what you are experiencing to others.  You know that at any moment you could be fighting for your life at the edge of the sink hole.

Instead of continually pouring into a sinkhole, it’s time to relocate. To relocate from the residence that you are accustomed to is a big decision.

Mental torment comes in all configurations.  So many people are addicted to and idolize, so many things because peace and joy are absent in their life. The list is endless, it is just not the drugs alcohol, gambling, porn, nicotine, that people idolize. Why even FB, TV shows, eating, or even being a workaholic ….. anything that you “can’t live without” has control over your life.

You see items, things you idolize can actually release dopamine, the feel-good chemical. Dopamine plays a major role in the motivational component of reward motivated behavior.  (from Wikipedia)

One of the most common things people with anxiety disorders, depression excessive worry say is “I just want to be happy again.”

Here is a great link that explains addictions and dopamine by the AOC Network. I strongly encourage you to view this 13 min video clip.

Let’s look at this spiritually. Most know of the scripture of the house built on rock that stood firm in the storm and while the house built on sand fell.   Matthew 7: 24-29

  • When Jesus talks about a house, Jesus is referring to your life. Your life is either going to be built on truth or your life is going to be built on a deception.
  • The truth of the word of God is like a rock. The word of God can withstand storms and all the opposition that the demonic realm can impose against it.
  • The same storm can hit the lives of two different people – one will stand, and one will fall.

The word of God is referred to a rock. A rock is solid. The ways of the world are referred to sand. Sand is not solid. Sand is tiny bits of rock. Sand is made from tiny grains of rocks and minerals.

  •  A rock represents revelation knowledge – the wisdom of God. Sand is just little bits of knowledge that has no strength and consistency.
  • People who just acknowledge God end up with a sandbox.
  • People who intentionally press into the word of God will receive the blessing and the strength of revelation knowledge. Their foundation will be firm.

Remember we are living in the war between good and evil.  The tactic of the enemy is to keep you teetering at the edge of the sinkhole. Through deception the enemy promotes those things of the world that create dopamine releases in attempts to drive us away from the Word of God.  And when our house sits on sand it is nothing for the demonic realm to promote anxiety and stress and worry.

REMEMBER FIGHT BACK FIGHT FEAR
